Hi,

Firstly, I'm no IT expert, just use my MacBook on a daily basis.

I have a MacBook Pro with 8GB of memory. I have an issue when my outlook has been open for about 4 hrs, the memory usage shoots up between 7.5 - 7.8Gb with the MacBook fans going mad, otherwise the machine usually trickles away circa 6GB which is fine. When I close outlook down it settles and when I open Outlook again its ok for a few hours and so the process is repeated. I've done the usual and cleared out caches, and deleted loads of stuff.

This issue has only occurred since updating the OS to Monterey.

I've also contacted Apple last week who offered some advice (create new user, was ok) but sadly the issue is not resolved.

The main culprit of the memory usage is 'about' but directly related to outlook.

Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone know how to resolve.

Thanks

Mark

I think many of us have this issue. It has haunted me over the last several versions of Mac OS! Including 12.1.

I have an M1 MacMini with 16GB of memory. I run Safari, Music, Mail, Photo, and Messages. I am running two 27" Dell monitors from the M1 MacMini. I constantly receive "low memory messages, when viewing movies via Safari, while using Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime etc. But I also see high memory use just surfing with Safari. Note I check this via a utility app. (see below)

Because of this I run Clean-My-Mac and can check my available memory up in the menu bar. It also offers to "free-up" memory via that menu choice. I use that to free up memory, and it works. But I have to ask myself why should I have to do that....Apple?

Now get ready for a lot of Clean-My-Mac naysayers :p All I can say is the entire app. works very well for me. I'm sure there are many single purpose "free memory" utility apps. out there perhaps someone can point us to them.

Note Clean-My-Mac is an all around utility, not just for freeing memory....again, wait for the storm for me even mentioning this app.? But it works for me. And yes, I purchased it. It is not a freebie app. for me.
