Greetings,
I think OSX is misbehaving in the memory management department.
Maybe somebody can offer a clue on how to solve my problem?
I'm running iterative finite element simulations, which require between 2 and 3GB of RAM. My machine is equipped with 3GB, however I have found that if I start my simulations with some (936 MB) Inactive RAM, this does NOT get freed when the system runs low.
In the attached screenshot, you can see how Inactive RAM (blue line) stays fixed, while FREE and ACTIVE RAM quantities vary. When FREE RAM gets very low (<50MB) the system starts using VM instead of freeing the inactive RAM.
Anyone cares to comment?
Thanks
