I have a macbook aluminum unibody i think late 2008. It has 2 g ram. I was considering an upgrade. Does both slots have to be the same size memory? right now I have two 1 G ram modules. I want to put 1x 4 g modules, and 1x 2 g module. Is this possible?

apparently it can hold 8 Gig with the right bot rom version. I only want to use 6 Gig

im going to. i was just correcting the comment that 6 was the max. in case someone else was interested in the thread...sorry

Gotcha. In any case, my comment wasn't entirely incorrect. 6 GB is the highest guaranteed maximum, whereas 8 GB may or may not work depending on your boot ROM version. MacTracker lists 6 GB as the max, and if it's truly incorrect, this will be the first time in all the years I've used it.
