hey i have 512 mb of ram inside my macbook and im thinking of replacing it with 1gb. i know that the stock memory runs at 667 mhz. the new memory im thinking of getting is 533 mhz.. will that make my computer slower?? or is it even worth getting?

I certainly wouldn't do it...all of your RAM will run at the slower speed, and I have heard of people having stability problems on PCs when they've mixed RAM speeds.

Get the proper RAM for your machine...it'll be worth it.

Like I said, I've heard of people having stability problems when trying this, at least on PCs. I don't see why you'd want to handicap your system and risk having problems with it instead of getting properly specced RAM.
