memory upgrade fail

After purchasing a 4g upgrade it failed to work. I ended up only using 1 slot with a 2g. Can anyone explain why this happened I have a earlier model was bought in 2006 does this have anything to do with the problem?

yes. Please do a simple search on Apple support for memory upgrade on the model that you own.

In addition to a possible speed issue, you need to make sure the RAM you buy is Apple-compatible. There's a handy RAM guide floating around here somewhere.
