Memory Upgrade in 21.5" iMac

Hi all - Just purchased the basic 21.5 iMac and am pleased with it. I intend to upgrade ram shortly. Apple specs say 8 gig of ram max, but the shipping box my Mac came with says compatible to 16 gig of ram. Does anyone know if the basic iMac will support this much ram - Not that I need it, just curious.

You can fit up to 16GB.

I think you could do 32GB - but 16GB will probably be more than enough
