Can i upgrade the memory of a 27" 3.5GHz Corei7 iMac and if so, up to where can it reach?
Is it something i can do on my own like on a prior model, that used to open underneath the display, or do i need to open up its case?

Yes, your model can be upgraded to a max of 32GB.

Installation is simple: iMac: How to remove or install memory
