Hello,

how much memory does the 3gs have? The reason I ask is ever since installing sbsettings on my 3.0 3g whenever I get below 10mb of free memory, which is all the time, the phone really starts to bog down.

Is this as much of a concern on the 3gs?

Thanks.

Very Good Question, I always wanted to Ask this (before i bought the 3GS) and never did.

I dont know why SBSettings always displays more Free memory than other memory apps like memory status.
On my iPhone 3G

SBSettings would always display:
-Free from 38-45mb

MemStatus often shows:
-Free around 20mb.

*That's with just 5icon dock and reflective dock , I dont think i had anything else that would use memory...
Right now on my iPhone 3GS
SBSettings:
-Free = 140MB (usually it displays from 140-160)

MemStatus:
-Free = 108MB

This is Running
-Winterboard with ILLUMINE theme
-mquickdo
-5 icon dock
-reflective dock

And if i do a "free memory" with MemStatus it saysss.....
SBSettings it now shows:
-Free = 150MB
Memory Status now shows:
FREE = 129.4MB

-------
Edit:
I restarted the 3GS and now

SBSettings shows

-Free = 159mb

MemStatus shows:

-Free = 143.6mb

HOPE THAT HELPS!!!
BTW: I posted this like "quotes" cause its easier to read!!

Not sure where everyone is getting their information from, but here's my Cydia Sources info:

Thanks, and where would I search for those numbers? Would I just install the SBSettings from Cydia?

yes, install SBSettings from cydia, then open it (swipe across the status bar of the iPhone) and it will open a window with different toggles (VERY VERY USEFULL!) and it will also say some info (memory, your wifi ip address, and a few stuff!)

:cool::apple:

I love SBSettings(Glass Orb theme is my fave). One of the few truly essential reasons to jailbreak(my other ones are Backgrounder and Categories).

I was amazed at how much free ram I have with the 3GS over the 3G. I frequently have between 70 - 90meg free with the 3GS. the mobile version of Logmein always complained ram shortages with my 3G, never with the 3GS :D
