I was noticing using stats that the 8gb of memory goes down to only several 100MB after using the Macbook for say 30 minutes. I am actually seeing some page outs. Checking the activity monitor I don't see any app using a ton of memory so wondering why this may be happening. Anyone else seeing this? I have the 1.1/256 model

All modern OS'es use free RAM (= RAM not allocated to applications) to cache disk access. Files that are read from disk will be stored in RAM to speed up further access to the same blocks.

RAM used this way will be freed on demand by "real" use cases so it's not a issue. What you are seeing is expected behaviour. :)
