I'm new to San Francisco and I need to find a place to get a haircut, I know there's a lot of you SF/Bay Area people on here. So where to go? I don't want to spend more than $30-40 at the most.

If I were in your position I'd check Yelp. Can't be much help myself as I spend more than your range to give business to a friend of mine.

One thing to be aware of is that haircuts are generally bizarrely more expensive here than probably wherever you came from. You might pay your $30-40 for a place in the mall that gives out bad assembly-line Republican cuts.

You can find cheaper, but finding a cut you like that is also cheap could be a challenge. Don't be afraid to check out little neighborhood places where the majority of staff and customers speak Chinese or Russian or something. That's the sort of place you're more likely to find quality service for cheap.

wow that is like crazy for a hair cut. I have not paid more than $15 including a tip for years.

I can see what a lot of people do not like to live in California when I see insane cost like this pop up.

San Francisco is an expensive city, no two ways about it. Then again, salaries are generally pretty high here so it mostly balances out. Not all of California is San Francisco.
