Is there any way to make my app created in xcode run in the menu bar? Please help

Well you haven't given us much information but the answer is going to be YES anyway.

You do have to code it to work as a "Menulet"

I am creating a simple app that hides and shows the icons on the desktop, using a shell script. I just want a simple menu item with a "Hide" button and a "Show" button. Since I made this with applescript, ideally, I would connect the menu item to the same script I did with the buttons. Any help would be appreciated. I have much experience with applescript, but not much with Xcode.
