I just made the jump from Mojave on a Mac Pro to Ventura on a MacBook Air and the Menu Bar icon for Sound on Ventura is a pair of headphones (because that's what I use for output). But unlike the speaker icon in Mojave and older macOS versions I remember, there is no indication of the volume setting as part of the icon. Is there a way to get the volume indicator in the menu bar when you're using the headphone output?

On my M1 Ventura 13.4.1 the drop down panel connected to the headphone icon in the menubar, shows the output volume slider as the first menu item. To be sure, changing the output volume elsewhere, will change the volume slider likewise.

Thanks. My apologies, I should have worded my question better. I want to be able to see an indication of the volume level in the menu bar icon, so I can glance at it and not have to interact. Here's how the Mojave sound icon looked at different volume levels even when the output was being sent to the headphones:

and on Ventura the menu bar icon shows no indication of loudness:

I can't get a sense how loud the sound is just my looking at the menu bar icon.
