Menu font sizes in Snow Leopard?

So umm, beginning Mac OS X user here, the menu (the top menu bar, "right click" menu etc) fonts are WAY too big. I downloaded TinkerTool and already lowered the size of all the fonts it let me, looked around the settings in the OS itself but I can't seem to touch the menu font sizes at all.

Tried Googling around and found people complaining about the same issue like back in 2001 already - is it really still not possible or am I missing something obvious here?

Oh well, will have to just live with it then. Got the 13" MBP so the resolution is only 1280x800 which would be perfectly fine for me if I could turn the rest of the huge fonts smaller, now things look a bit weird with the rest of the fonts half the size.. not gonna turn them back up either as then nothing would fit on the screen.
