Menus suddely showing numbering of menu items?

Can anyone tell me what the heck these bullet numbers to the left of the menu items are, and how I can get rid of them? Menus are laggy after this showed up.

The result of a newly installed program? Did I nudge a setting without realizing it? I haven't seen any reference to this anywhere on the web.

Catalina apparently added the ability to show numbers next to clickable items. It's associated with Voice Control. Visit the following page, and find "Show numbers":
