So long story short, I had a Mac mini 6 years ago that I imported pictures from other computers onto. It was working great for 4 years and then I got an rMBP. However to do this I ended up selling the Mini to get the laptop (my allowance money wouldn't cover it, I was about 18 when I sold it). So I made a Time Machine backup of the entire computer, and the iPhoto library was in it before I wiped the mini.
About a year ago I "unpackaged" he backup so I could pick through the folders like a spare room in a house. Now my iPhoto library is sitting on the external hard drive waiting to be imported, but after exporting the library while I had it open in Photos, I noticed the photo dates now correspond to when I imported them into iPhoto and not when they were taken! When I views them in Photos, the metadata was present. Photos taken on July 17, 2003 appear as October 2010 (when I imported them into iPhoto).
Upon attempting this method, the metadata was still screwed up and I don't know why. When viewing in iPhoto/Photos, it shows the original date and time.
How can I import these photos into Photos while preserving dates and locations?
