Im march I bought the MBA 2025. I have had my old MBA for 7 years and it was full of junk so I decided to make a new apple id and start afresh. On researching online I found out how to link data from my old apple id (which I still use on my iphone) and managed to link my calendar, which synchronises perfectly from MBA on apple id 1 to iphone on apple id 2. I have just realised that my notes dont sync so thought I would add these to sync, but I cannot find anywhere any information on the method I used to link the 2 apple ids, and I cant remember how I did it. If anyone can advise I would be very grateful.

Why not export/download what you want from the old appleid, and then import that into the new?

I'm curious what do you mean your appleid was full of junk? Junk mail?

I read the OP as the MBA was full of junk. In that case, creating a new Apple ID seems pointless unless the original was compromised.
Yes, but his insistence of having a new apple id, seems to tie the apple id having that junk not the hardware. I don't understand why a new appleid would be needed if the laptop was just full of stuff.

Yes, since the OP says they use the old ID on their iPhone, I think that is the case. They bought the new Mac in March, but are still syncing the calendar from the original ID in July.

OP, Is the ID on the iPhone and the old MBA the ID that is used for media and purchases, and entered as the secondary ID on the new MBA for Media & Purchases, or is there a third ID that used to be the "iTunes" ID that pre-dates iCloud? (only asking as this might help others guide your choices when you reply)

If you're indeed keeping the old ID (versus hoping to migrate away from it), then on the new Mac go into the Apple menu on Calendar or Notes and choose Accounts... and if your old ID is already the one you're using to "sync" your calendar, this is where you choose the other stuff from that ID you want to use on the new device. If not, this is where you add the account.

The old macbook air had 1000s of photos and screenshots and files that if I had the time I should have gone through and deleted but that would have taken weeks. So I tought it more time efficient to start from scratch with a new ID, and as I still have access to my old laptop I can transfer information over as I needed it which would eliminate the irrelevant stuff. As I originally posted, after research online I found out that I could link the old ID to my new ID and choose which items to share, the calendar being the main one, which I did and has worked perfectly. I wanted to link my notes but on searching online I cannot find where I saw the original instructions to do this. Hope this is a better explanation.
