Apple seems to have a good advantage over other fitness devices when it comes to counting steps whilst pushing a trolley or push chair (when your arm doesn't swing). My old Fitbit Charge HR would have much reduced step counts when pushing something, but Apple merges the data from the motion co-processor on newer iPhone models and the Watch so you get accurate data. I guess this would only be truly accurate if you keep your iPhone in your trouser pocket (as I do).
The screen shot I've posted was from walking around a supermarket, pushing a trolley this morning.
