Hi,

I'm an audio software newbie, what app is easy to use, free, and allows me to merge two audio files together ?

Depends what you mean by merge. Do you want to overlap the two so they play simultaneously as one file or to put one after the other in one file?

Edit : Scratch that... Audacity would be the answer to both anyway!

If you have a mac (and depending which format files you want to merge) I'd go with Garageband.

I conducted an interview earlier, it was a 10minute interview, recorded with my iPhone 3GS, but when I went to send the e-mail to myself so I could access the files on the computer, it would only let me e-mail 8 minutes. so I have an 8 minute m4a and 2 minute m4a. Now I want to merge them back into one file. When I try to import part 1 in Audacity it doesn't seem to like it. Not sure if it doesn't support the audio type of M4A.

For files too big to email, try Dropbox. You can also use Switch to convert m4a files to mp3, if you choose.
