Merging existing user accounts?

So I had a major crash of my mac. Rebuilt on an external drive, everything is great.

However, suddenly today I was able to re-access the internal drive. I rebuilt it and its all operational again...

Since I have all my files onto this second hard drive is there a way to merge it with the original drive? I'd like the two accounts to be one, but not to overwrite data (just replace stuff that isn't there and update the old stuff)
