With multiple computers, external drives and different people downloading their photos, my families pictures are in multiple iPhoto libraries and different external drives, is there any way to merge all of these into one library on one computer?

Do you have Aperture? If so, you can open your iPhoto library in Aperture and then merge it with your other iPhoto libraries. You can not do that in iPhoto yet.

There are also 3rd party apps that allow you to manage your iPhoto libraries and merge them, but this capability is not native in iPhoto.

Great advice. Aperture is such a great program that you will be glad that you switched.
