Merging open space and main partition

Hi, i deleted second partition, and now it is free space. How would i merge the free space into my osx partition. If i need to reformat, how can i take everything off my backup drive to put on my computer again.

Are you comfortable in terminal? If you don't know what I just said, go ahead and backup/reinstall.
