Some weeks ago I found out the the native apps Message and Contacts on my MacBook Pro 13 from 2013 on macOS 11.13.4 and now 11.13.5 are not working any longer. The Contacts app only shows one entry, my self, while the Message app comes with a longer error message:

Crashed Thread: 3 Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-qos

Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

I cannot find out how to reset the apps or how to delete them and perform a fresh installing.

Can somebody help?

You'd have to reinstall the OS in order to reinstall the apps. However, before trying that, give AppleCare a call, they may have a fix for this that doesn't require a reinstall.
