Could some1 please tell me what the message symbol at the top right hand side of my iphone is? It appears to go red when i go into messages. Could you tell me how to get rid of it?

At the top right of the "iPhone" icon or the top right of the screen (by the battery indicator)?

Can you post a screenshot? Press and hold the lock switch on the top, then press the home button and let go of both -- the screen should flash white and you should have a screenshot in your camera roll. Upload the image here or elsewhere and link it so we can see.

wondering about this too because i saw a screenshot somewhere that had a mail icon in the upper right hand corner, wanted to know if it was an option to turn it on when you got mail or something like that.

press the home button and the sleep button at the same time, and then sync your phone with your computer, and transfer the photos to your computer and upload it.

can u see it?

It would be pretty useless because the phone app and the mail app both show you how many messages you have. The only benefit would be in you are on a different screen that the screen with the mail or phone apps.

Exactly. Or when it is locked.

That's either "Notifiy" from Cydia or Intelliscreen doing that.

You should be able to uninstall them.

As was said above, that's either StatusNotifier or Intelliscreen and the icon means that you have an unread email.
