Curious about others thoughts on this. Basically the messsges app is descended from iChat and doesn’t appear to have been retrofitted in a long time. It doesn’t display effects, it takes forever to load properly if you have a big database, and is generally just kind of a drag for me in many ways. Apple has to know this as they all use it too. Thoughts?
 
Agreed. Most apps that are mirrored from iOS on macOS are more powerful, but Messages is the exception. You can't view/send effects, you can't add "apps" for Messages, and you can't delete multiple messages in one conversation. It's like Apple left Messages in 2014 and only added the ability to tapback, but other than that, it's woefully lacking.

Yes exactly. I wonder if we put a petition together or something.... but the weird thing is they use it too... So I dont get why its so laggy.
