This is baffling me. I have a M2 MacBook Air and a M4 Pro Mac Mini. Both have latest OS and are kept up to date with patches, etc.
I want to keep Messages.app running all the time because I uses it all day. In the past few months I have an issue where the app just quits/crashes unexpectedly. There's no error message or warning. It just fails silently to stay open. This is very annoying and frustrating.
On both Macs I have tried stopping Messages.app, deleting the com.apple.iChat.plist file from my user Library/Preferences directory and rebooting both before restarting Messages.app. That works for a little while but the problem returns. I did this again just a couple days ago. The app on the Mac Mini started failing silently again pretty quickly. On the MacBook Air it's still running, but it's just a matter of time before it fails to stay up too.
Searches here and elsewhere haven't helped (other than the suggestion to delete the plist file).
