Messages app scrolling up to old messages

Since installing some 3rd party keyboards, I notice when I open the Messages app, it has annoyingly scrolled up to display older messages, not the latest one.

Just me?

I've noticed the same behavior in Safari. If I enter a thread say 20 topics down the list and then swipe to go back it always goes back to the first topic, not to the 21st where I was. Same on a website. If I scroll down to the 10th thread, check it out and try and go back, it always rolls back to the first thread, not the 10th. Could these all be problems linked together some way?
