I changed my Apple ID password and now all of my conversations are offline "Bonjour" conversations. Even my phone numbers and emails aren't being recognized as my contacts.

However, I can start new ones, and the contacts are recognized and everything works normally. Yet, the old chat logs are lost and marked as Bonjour. Super annoying!

I tried restoring the Messages folder in Library from Time Machine but it didn't make any difference. I also tried logging out of iCloud on my Mac and deleting the App's iMessage account ... all made no difference.

Isn't it supposed to pull messages from the Cloud or something?

Turns out the list of recent chats is in com.apple.iChat.plist for some reason, and restoring that from a Time Machine backup solved *everything*. Hooray!
