I'm trying to help someone out, but this one has me a little stumped.

She was running the beta of iMessages on 10.7. After upgrading to 10.8 Messages is showing her iMessage account three times. There are no options to delete the duplicate accounts. Her system does not seem to be able to receive messages either, although sending seems to work (most of the time).

She has tried switching through the accounts to see if one other than the fist works. No go.

I tried deleting com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist from her user preferences, but that file just recreated the same as before.

I can't tell if the accounts stuff is being pulled from Apple, or from somewhere else in OSX.

if anyone knows how to blow away the config for iMessage accounts in Messages, or has any other ideas, I'd be grateful for the clues. :)

(for the record, FaceTime works just fine).
