I recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile, and now I notice that when I am away from my phone, messages are green (SMS). When I had Verizon the messages would use iMessage (blue). Is there something different with the T-Mobile network that causes them to go green?

all messages? How do they show up on the phone?
I switched from Vzw to TM earlier this year and messages from my wife showed green, can;t remember though what setting I changed, it’s somewhere in a post here on MR ;)

I think they're all green as long as I am away from my phone. When I checked my phone (when back from a walk) they show in green as well. I should mention this is for messages that *I* send while out on a walk.

Yes, the messages I send from my cellular Apple Watch on T-mobile when away from my iPhone and home have always been green. If I turn off my iPhone and send a message from my watch from my home, it's blue, but that makes sense since it would have access to a known wi-fi network.
