Hey there,
Just curious. For those of you who have Messages in iCloud on the iOS 11.3 Beta, what happens if you have different settings for Keep Messages (i.e. the setting that will delete messages after 30 days, 1 year, or keep Forever). Does it sync legacy threads and is that option now shared across all devices with Messages in iCloud enabled? Or can you still toggle that setting per device, and if that's the case, does one device deleting the messages after 30 days affect any other device with Messages in iCloud enabled?
Just curious if the option is now shared, and if not, does it delete across all devices? My mom's iPhone is set to keep messages for 30 days (primarily due to storage space), but she's got her MacBook Pro set to "keep Forever." If the toggle is still independent and still exists, perhaps I should toggle it to "Forever" on the iPhone prior to updating so that legacy threads sync over, since attachment storage size shouldn't be an issue anymore.
Also, my MacBook Pro has messages dating back to 2012ish, but my iPhone only goes back a couple of years, since I used to have that setting set to 1 year instead of forever. Will I get those old legacy threads that were auto-deleted on my iPhone from my MacBook Pro?
Thanks!
