Messages Loads Deleted Conversations Every time I Launch it

How do you delete OS X Message cache/data? Any time I open the app, I see empty messages with phone numbers that are not associated with any contacts. I delete them individually every time, and yet they still come back, on my Mac Pro and MacBook Air running the same 10.8.X.
