Messages Not Working

I installed the beta upgrade and all seems to be working fine except messages. The program opens fine but it will not send or receive text messages both inside and outside Apple. I am getting nothing from this program.

On the bright side, my Apple mouse made me crazy with disconnecting in Yosmite. The mouse seems to be working just fine now!

I got it working again. When I was going through set up I wasn't able to sign into my icloud account for some reason so I skipped that. Because of that I was not signed into my messaging account. I had to go into that setup and put the password in to get it working again.
