I feel Apple made an oversight and had forgotten to enable Messages on iCloud syncing capabilities for Apple Watch. This could have been executed properly if watchOS supported this along with iOS and macOS.

When Craig was announcing this feature, he said Messages on iCloud is only for iOS and macOS, presented on the keynote as well. It’s no wonder my Apple Watch didn’t update when I delete conversations on my iOS and macOS devices.

Very unfortunate. We’re already incapable of deleting specific messages on Apple Watch without having to delete the entire thread.

I wish they would sync. It’s a pita to delete messages on the watch

iMessage syncing hasn't actually even been turned on yet. But Im not sure why it hasn't always done this. If mail can do it why cant iMessage?
The whole point of iCloud is to sync across devices.

It is turned on. I have it working on all my macOS and iOS device.

It does seem like an oversight that it doesn't at least sync deletions.

Obviously full syncing of the existing message history could be problematic (as the watch only has a few GB of space and you don't really want it having potentially multiple GB of messages synced to it), but having it delete anything from its cache that was deleted elsewhere makes a lot of sense.

I made a suggestion to Apple Bug Reporter about this.
I have suggested that they either enable the syncing or create a mirroring between the phone and the watch just like the Telegram app does!

iCloud syncing capabilities for watchOS would actually be more beneficial than it running out of room on your watch. Messages on iCloud for iOS and macOS is supposed to not only sync deleted messages, but also save space on your devices. All the really old messages in conversations are cached to iCloud, only accessible if the user needs to go back that far. With the Apple Watch, it can simply cache all the messages that are a day old.

Right now I’m told that messages only remain on the watch for 30 days.

Yes, I would love mirroring as well.

reported with Watch OS 2, 3 and now 4

I suspect they aren't syncing for a reason!

I hope they fix it fast!!
