Messages on Yosemite not showing newly added iCloud contact

When I receive a text message on my iPhone from a number that isn't in my contacts, I add the number to my iCloud contacts.

When I open the Messages app in Yosemite, I see the message from the new number but the number is shown, rather than the contact I just created on my iPhone. When I look in Contacts, then I can see the newly added contact, but messages still thinks the number is unsaved.

Any reason why this is?
