I’ve been travelling with an iPad and an iPhone. Sometimes both devices have been on wifi, sometimes I’ve gone for several days where they were not on wifi. I have my devices set so that text messages are forwarded to the iPad and I can send and receive messages and texts from either the iPad or the iPhone when the iPad is on wifi. This evening both devices were on wifi and when I went to use Messages on the iPad, I had to sign in with my Apple ID. Messages did not sync. I looked in my iCloud settings and saw that the Messages app on both devices were not using iCloud. I toggled it on in both devices, plugged them in, and then the messages did sync. However, photos sent and received as attachments did not. They are only on the iPhone.
I am wondering what the recommended setting is as far as Messages using iCloud is concerned. The messages had been synchronizing successfully before today even with it turned off in iCloud. The iPad has been “uploading” for quite a while now.
