I read that Messages on your Mac is supposed to now be able to send/receive iMessage messages from your phone number, as opposed to an email address as it was before. Mine are still coming from my email and messages sent to my phone number go to my iPhone only. Anyone having the same problem?

Everything is up to date- MBP with Mountain Lion (newest version, updated today) and iPhone 4 with iOS 6.

Thanks!

A couple thoughts -

a. Are the messages going to your iPhone iMessage or could they be regular SMS (which won't go to your desktop)

b. Double check the "Start new conversations from" setting at:

Messages - Preferences - Accounts

a. Yes they are definitely iMessage

b. My account is an Apple ID with an email address. I only get the option "Start new conversations from" when I select a second email address from "you can be reached for messages at" just above that option, and my only options are email addresses. My phone number isn't mentioned anywhere on here, but I also don't see an option to add it. Am I just missing something?
