For some reason my Messages app on my macbook air just stopped working today. It says my iMessage account is online, I'm logged in with my Apple ID, the account is enabled and all of the "You can be reached for messages at" are checked, but it's still not working. When I look at the column on the left, I just see phone numbers and not the contacts now and no history of messages. It also says "Offline" to each of them. It's like Messages isn't talking to my contact list. I've checked all of the setting with my mac pro (which it's working fine on) and the setting are all identical. I've closed the app and restarted the computer but still nothing.

Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Edit ... solved. I ended up just copying over my entire messages folder from my mac pro to the macbook air and it's working fine. I still have no idea what happened but at least I have all of my old messages back and it's working again.
