I was partitioning my 2010 Macbook Pro drive for a windows install when I figured out I'd not have enough space to split it in half. So I started deleting files while it was still partitioning. This caused problems and no I cant boot (flashing folder with a question mark).

Whats the best way to erase and start over? I'm not worried about recovering any data. Can I place a Mavericks installer on an external drive and use dick utility to zero the disk?

Just try to boot using CMD + R until Apple logo appears, this should start Internet Recovery if your recovery partition is also damaged. From here you can erase your whole drive and install your system again
