Hi, I'm having more and more wrong icons for files of all sorts in Finder. For example today I see that three jpgs, that I had saved yesterday, have a folder icon, instead of a JPEG-Preview (app) icon. But when I view the Get Info box, in the top left corner it shows the correct item. Or yesterday I saw a file having a CD icon, it wasn't from a CD and had nothing to do with CDs. When viewing items in a File>Open dialog of an app, they show up correctly.

I did not change anything with Candybar or any such app and Disc Utility says the disc is fine. I need a solution to repair them all and prevent more of this from happening, changing every single item is not an option for me.

I have most of the common maintainance apps (Cocktail etc.), if any of those are helpful in this case, let me know.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

Show View Options > Show Icon Preview

That should not be checked. To me, that's counter-intuitive, but I had similar icon problems, and unchecking that has banished them.

Awesome! Rebuilt it with Cocktail and the problem's gone!

Thanks guys!
