Hi, yesterday I messed up my hard drive I trying to install OS X 10.5.6 Leopard on a 2002 iMac G4 running 700 MHz. I accidentally did a restore from the image file of Leopard to the hard drive. Realizing that leopard does not work on 700 MHz systems,I tried to reboot from an OS X 10.4 CD and now it won't boot. So I set the G4 into target mode connected it via FireWire to my 2009 Mac Mini Intel running 10.8 mountain lion, went to disk utilities and disk utility says that the hard drive on that computer cannot be altered erased or partition. I think I need to format that hard drive as it may be either protected or viewed by the system as unwritable. What can I do as disk utilities on my Mac mini will not?

Leopard will work on any speed G4, even 400Mhz. While it'll be slightly slow, it will run on 700Mhz without any problems. Is the 10.4 disc a retail disc or a reinstallation disc?

No modifications are needed to the OS. With a Target Disk Mode installation, no changes need to be done to the OS.

Modifications was the wrong word- I just meant to say that you can't pop in the disk and be on your merry way, you have to do some sort of workaround, be it LeopardAssist or a Target Disk Mode install.

P.S.: What's with your signature? Why 4:58?
