Messenger 8 Connection Problems

Today I've downloaded the just released Messenger 8. And now I cannot connect to my account with it. I just get an error saying that the service is down.

I've tried deleting account history, deleting the microsoft user data folder, deleting the plist file and reinstalling the app with no success. Anyone else with this problem?

A few days ago I got some message asking me to change my live id. I did this but now I can't send messages to any of my contacts. Messenger 8 doesn't appear to fix the problem.

i am having the same problem but only with my email account... i am having no trouble connecting with another one...
