Messenger Differences?

What is the difference between the MSN messenger client that comes with Microsoft Office 2008 and the one that is downloaded from the website.

I use the one that comes with Office. The other day I went to my mates house and noticed his looked very different, the one download off the MS website I presume.

Is the difference just a theme or am I out of date? Because I still seem to be getting updates for my client, but his looks newer for some reason. So am I not sure. What is the difference?

Don't worry, nothing important.
Both versions suck, any way.

You should try something like Trillian, Adium or aMSN (this one if you don't mind slow and poor interface, but the most features-complete one).
