Messenger for mac 8 doesnt work?

Hi guys,

Just bought my iMac, installed Messenger for mac 8 and it doesnt work!? Anyone got any ideas?

I have made sure its not been blocked by the firewall... I have reinstalled it twice and still no luck... I just keep getting this message:

"Sign in to microsoft messenger failed because the service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet."
