Messenger:Mac and 802.1X networks

My University's WiFi is 802.1X WPA. Mail, Safari, Yahoo Messengery and even Transmission work on it fine. I just can't seem to get Messenger:Mac to work.

If I boot up Windows 7 via Parallels Desktop, I can sign in fine using Windows Live Messenger.

Messenger:Mac works fine on my home network and any other one.

Any ideas how to get it to work on my uni one?
