Messenger:Mac connection issues when using WEP key

I am having big problems connecting to the Messenger servers using both Messenger:Mac and Adium while using a WEP key on my WLAN connection.

When I am connecting unsecured, MSN logs in fine, in whatever application I'm using, but the minute I use a WEP key, it wont log in.

Everything else seems to work fine i.e. firefox, safari, skype etc.

Any ideas anyone?
