Messenger Mac-Display Pic Problem

hey everyone, just got the new macbook today, have downloaded microsoft messenger 7 for the mac, have tried to change my display pic but get this message:

"the selected file could not be imported to use as your display picture. please be sure that the file is a valid picture format"

and it is its a jpeg format, i dont think its the file becuase ive tried using files ive taken using the photo booth thingy and it says the same thing

any ideas, cuz i really dont want to have to put up with the blue man any longer!

wrong file type fix

This has worked for me:

Launch Messenger, but don't sign-in
Choose the option to "Sign in with a different account . . ."
Click Clear Account History . . .
Click Clear History
Now click Sign-in and enter your credentials again

The pictures don't even work on the version 8 beta.

Apparently MSN Mess. is still borked; display pics don't work for me either.
