Messenger Mac Problem - Pressing Enter Deselects Chat Window Text Box

Every time I hit enter in a chat window, it sends the message then deselects the chat window area, so when I start typing again nothing appears until I click on the text area.

I did just install Safari 4 beta, but surely that hasn't done this...?
 
Woa. I swear the other topic wasn't here before!

Feel free to delete this...I'll respond in the other topic.

I got the same problem, on mac messenger and just after I installed Safari 4 Beta... has anybody figured how to fix it, please help this is quite annoying.
 
Do you guys actually pay attention to the applications your using?

Messenger has always been like this, Safari has nothing to do with it.

Hold down the shift key when you press enter.

I just installed Safari 4, it's gonna be Safari 4.

Why don't you pay attention to the problem?
 
I'm having the exact same problem ever since I installed the Safari 4 Beta. This is unbelievably annoying and I think I may have to switch back to Adium...:(

G4DP, I never had this bug occur before. It has been fine up until today (when I installed Safari 4 Beta).
 
As long as I can remember, must be at least 4 years. Once you have started typing in the message box, the moment you press enter it sends the message.

It has nothing to do with Safari. Safari and MSN have nothing to do with each other.

Pressing enter has the same effect in 3.2.1 or 4.

How do I know because up until 3:30pm yesterday I was using MSN and 3.2.1. Pressed enter and what do you know it sent the text.

AGAIN, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??????

That has nothing to do with the issue that's going on.

Once you hit enter, it sends the message and the message window gets deselected.

Here's an example...

If you wanna type

hey <enter>
sup? <enter>

It doesn't work, instead you have to do:

hey <enter>
<CLICK INSIDE MSN WINDOW>
sup <enter>
<RE-CLICK INSIDE THE MSN WINDOW IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE THE CONVO>

It's a Safari 4 issue, I un-installed it and my MSN works fine now.

Seeing as Safari 4 installs an updated WebKit, which Messenger:Mac uses, Safari 4 beta and MSN very much do have everything to with each other.

Obviously Microsoft's MacBU need to update Messenger:Mac 7 to work properly with the latest build of WebKit (but seeing as Safari is in a beta stage, I doubt we'll see this till Safari 4 hits release).
 
Yup got the same issue here!

Really annoying :(

Someone works for MS here AFAIK so if we could point him towards this issue!
 
Same exact symptoms and order of events - looking like definitely a Safari 4 Beta deal - carry on.
 
Simply Uninstall Safari 4

i just uninstalled safari 4 and everything back to normal!
see if apple get noticed about this bug !

Why don't you install Safari 4 and try to use MSN?

Well, I just did and now I am installing Adium..

As much as I value your opinion. It is absolute bullocks. Your basically talking without using Safari 4 and MSN.
 
is messenger better than adium?
I started using adium and I`m actually liking it a lot :)
 
Same Thing Happend To Me... And It Just Started When I Installed Safari 4... Also You Can't Delete And Empty Junk And Trash From Hotmail With Safari 4...

So Do You Suggest To Uninstall Safari 4 Or I Should Rather Instar Adium???

Anyone???
