Messenger problems

I was hoping someone could help. I had downloaded the latest version of Messenger ages ago and it was running fine. Now, whenever I try to open Messenger it says I need to download the latest version to continue! This happens every time even if I've download it then quit and try again!! Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do?

Use Adium instead the official MSN client is horrible

Either try aMSN or Adium. Both have slightly different features. Adium will let you combine your Yahoo, MSN, AIM, iChat friends in one app...but is limited to text chat only. The latest version of aMSN supports video chat.

Normally I would agree. I find Adium has a way better GUI, but for some reason, it often says"this message could not be delivered". I switched back to MSN for that reason...
