First of all, I have used dosdude1's patcher to get MacOS High Sierra on this machine. It used to run OK until my 2GB DIMM died, bringing my total RAM down to 4GB.
Then I found out that I could get a full 8GB of RAM on my device by just installing a Boot ROM update. I got the file from Apple's website and tried installing it, but when restarting, it would beep once and not boot at all. When I forced it to shut down, it would boot normally but then revert back to the old Boot ROM.
What I did to "force" the update on my machine, was force-quite the installer, shut down and turn my laptop back on. It still did the beep, so I turned it off and back on. But when I checked System Profiler, it listed the bootrom version as MBP51.007E.B06.
Should I be worried? Is it going to bite me down the line? Did it just refuse to update the BootROM because of the modified MacOS version or something?
