macOS Meta key for command button?

xev for the command button:

state 0x10, keycode 63 (keysym 0xffe7, Meta_L), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False
But I believe there is another translation layer for Meta_L -> something else. Does anyone know what it is? Like Mod2 or something like that
